DESCRIÇÃO
Selenium is usually a companion of Sulfur-containing ores, of the metals Copper, Lead, Zinc, Gold and Iron. When these ores are roasted, the solid Selenium dioxide gathers in the fly ash, or later in the sulfuric acid production as acid. In small amounts, Selenium is non-toxic. It melts at 221 °C and boils at 685 °C.
CARACTERÍSTICAS
Selenium is a metalloid (an element intermediate in properties between the metals and the nonmetals). The gray, metallic form of the element is the most stable under ordinary conditions; this form has the unusual property of greatly increasing in electrical conductivity when exposed to light.
The morphologies, physical properties and sizes of nanomaterials depended on several reaction parameters, including synthesis techniques, starting materials, use of surfactants/additives, reaction temperature, pH of the solution, choice of substrates, reaction time, reaction media and nature of solvent.
